It’s the BERG AirHive, based on an IoT platform by the Swedish company Wrlds, which combines sensors with Bluetooth comms to bring metrics of measurement to your jumping performance.
It’s priced at £79.00 online, currently, and features a 9-axis sensor for motion tracking. Apparently, a machine learning algorithm identifies each individual’s specific motions and can recognise up to 20 different acrobatic tricks.
How can AI be involved? Well, they’ve recorded of jump data from people ranging from competitive gymnasts to casual jumpers, with 4,000 jumps having been recorded, labelled and processed.
There’s an accompanying app, of course, which has a number of games for children aged 6 and over, which alternate between jumping, falling and sitting. There are also different challenges, support for a personal training assistant, and you can just record your own jumps…

The makers write:
“Developed in conjunction with professional jumpers Dante, Sebbe and Lex. The BERG AirHive has been developed in conjunction with the best jumpers. It consists of a small sensor worn around the ankle, and connects to the app on your smartphone via Bluetooth LE. The app records all your movements and has all kinds of games and exercises to offer, keeping you entertained for hours.”
Thanks to the Nordic Semiconductor Wireless Quarter for highlighting this one (it uses the ultra low power characteristics of the Nordic nRF52832 SoC). You can read more about the BERG AirHive here.
