Called Type 1XL, it is built around NXP’s 88W9098 chip set and supports IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax 2×2 MU-MIMO (multi-user, multiple-input, multiple-output) and single antenna Bluetooth 5.3 Low Energy.
“The Wi-Fi section supports connectivity up to 1.4x faster than conventional Wi-Fi compatible devices, offering data rates of up to 1,200Mbit/s,” according to Murata. It “also supports the PCIe 3.0 interface with optional support for SDIO 3.0”.
Its Bluetooth radios supports speeds up to 2 Mbit/s using a high-speed four-wire UART interface, with optional support for SDIO and PCM for audio data.
Murata’s packaging know-how went into squeezing everything into 19.1 x 16.5 x 2.1mm.
Applications are foreseen in IoT, smart home, audio, video, voice, smart TV and gateway applications.
A reference antennae design for FCC/IC certifications and CE conducted test is planned.
