Three-phase brush-less motor driver works up to 140V

Called 6ED2742S01Q, it is designed to drive six external n-channel mosfets using bootstrapping for the upper three, but it unusually includes a low-power charge pump to allow 100% duty cycle high-side operation. For traditional bootstrapped operation, three diodes are integrated to avoid the need for external diodes.

Its gate drives source 1A and sink 2A, and have independent under-voltage lock-out (UVLO) for both high-side and low-side gate drives.

While the power input can be anywhere between 10.8 and 140V, the bootstrap terminal is specified up to 160V.

Propagation delay is 100ns, and there is a minimum dead time of 100ns with built-in delay matching.

in addition to UVLO, protection features include: over-current protection with configurable threshold, fault communication and automatic fault recovery.

A current sense amplifier with selectable gain is provided not only for output protection but for external use. It operates in conjunction with an external low-side series resistor which can be as low as 10mΩ and includes a deliberate voltage offset ~150mV) ensures the measured value remains positive (does not go negative in regular operation). A control signal allows this offset to be read externally for subtraction elsewhere.

inputs are 3.3 and 5V compatible, and the IC is protected against 2kV human-body model ESD.

Packaging is 5 x 5mm exposed pad QFN32 and operation is over -40 to 125°C.

Applications are foreseen in forklifts, warehouse robots, hand power tools, drones, and battery-operated household appliances, as well as small vehicles that do not require automotive qualification.
