Announcing NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series Graphics Cards at Best Buy Canada

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series Graphics Cards are arriving at Best Buy for Canadians on October 12th at 6 am Pacific (9 am Eastern). Just over two years ago, NVIDIA launched its RTX 30 series graphics cards. Powered by Ampere—the company’s second-generation RTX architecture—these new graphics cards were a big deal. They brought technology like real-time ray tracing into the mainstream. Now it’s time to announce the arrival of all-new, GeForce RTX 40 series graphics cards, powered by NVIDIA’s new Ada Lovelace architecture.

Customers will be able to order online for home delivery as of October 12th. This article will help you learn about these new graphics cards, and explain the process to purchase one for yourself. Selection and quantities will vary. Also, household limits may be added for some products, depending on changes in demand and stock levels.

New GeForce RTX 40 Series cards available at launch

NVIDIA is making the uber-powerful RTX 4090 available at Best Buy on October 12, 2022. Check out these specs: 16,384 CUDA Cores, 1,321 Tensor-TFLOPs, 191 RT-TFLOPs, and 83 Shader-TFLOPs of power, with 24GB of G6X VRAM. NVIDIA says the new GeForce RTX 4090 runs up to twice as fast as the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti. That’s not just gaming performance, but also 3D rendering and video editing.

New graphics cards feature Ada Lovelace architecture

NVIDIA is launching the third generation of its RTX architecture, building on 2020’s Ampere. This version is called Ada Lovelace, a nod to the 19th century mathematician who has been widely recognized as a computing pioneer and the first computer programmer.

This new architecture (which is built using a 4nm process) features third generation Ray Tracing cores and fourth generation Tensor cores. Ray tracing is extremely taxing to GPUs with the rendering requiring tracking millions of rays striking different materials from different angles. NVIDIA’s new Shader Execution Reordering (SER) makes these workloads more efficient, with up to twice the performance of the previous generation. This translates into in-game frame rates that are up to 25% faster.

Ada’s Tensor Cores gain new hardware accelerators called Opacity Micro-Map Engines and Micro-Mesh Engines for additional performance gains. A new Optical Flow Accelerator works to feed pixel motion data into the DLSS neural network (read more about DLSS here). NVIDIA says this generates new frames on the GPU so performance is accelerated even in scenarios where the computer’s CPU is a bottleneck.

Existing RTX features get better than ever with the Ada architecture driving the RTX 40 series. The RTX 30 series’ DLSS 2 boosted frame rates by up to 2X, but the RTX 40 series’ DLSS 3 can boost frame rates by up to 4X (while improving latency by up to 2X with NVIDIA Reflex technology). Even better, Ada’s architecture delivers these big performance gains while holding the line on power consumption.

Since their launch, the GeForce RTX 30 Series has been the most sought-after PC component we have seen, resulting in stock shortages around the world. The demand for the new RTX 40 series is expected to be similarly high. Bottom line: gamers and content creators are going to want the GeForce RTX 40 Series.

How can you obtain an Nvidia Graphics card

RTX 40 Series Graphics Cards will became available to purchase online on October 12th at 6 am (Pacific). Best Buy and NVIDIA are hoping to make these cards available to more Canadian gamers who are ready to upgrade their gaming performance. Selection will vary and will change rapidly. Here are some tips to help you find the right card for your needs.

  1. Find the graphics card online at Best Buy that you would like to purchase, then check to see if any stock is still available.
  2. Place your order online for free home delivery.

Please be aware household limits may be added for certain RTX 40 Series graphics cards as demand and stock levels change. Selection and quantities will likely change over time and we provide no assurances about any particular make or model being available.

Where and when to find GeForce RTX 40 Series graphics cards

At stated above, GeForce RTX 40 Series graphics cards will be available on the Best Buy Canada website to purchase. We expect demand for Nvidia graphics cards to remain high as we saw for the RTX 30 series over the past two years. Return to bestbuy.ca often as stock levels will change often and you don’t want to miss out on your chance to obtain one of these amazing new PC components.
