Digital isolator has two 100Mbit/s channels in the same direction

Called STISO620, it s”6kV thick-oxide technology ensures robust galvanic isolation”, according to the company. “Built to maintain insulation integrity during system faults and with ageing, they enhance reliability in industrial and consumer applications.”

Peak withstanding is 4kVpk, isolation is to 2.83kVrms, and maximum working is at 849Vrms. Testing is to VDE0884-10 and UL 1577.

Each side needs a supply between 3.0 and 5.5V, that can differ (transmit-side current is typically 1.6mA), and the logic input voltage can go up to 5V. Operation is across ambients from -40 to 125°C

Inputs have Schmitt-triggers, switching is at up to 100Mbit/s, and pulse width distortion is said to be <3ns.

The package is narrow-body SO8N with 4mm creepage and clearance.

Applications are foreseen, sometimes replacing optocouplers, in smart-grid equipment, utility meters, motor drives, smart building, lighting systems and domestic appliances, as well as power supplies, inverters, fieldbus isolators and battery monitors.

The STISO620 can be found at this web page, and for something similar with dual channels in opposite directions, try the STISO621 and STISO621W – the W version is in a wider package.

EVALSTISO62XV1 is an evaluation board.
