For both work and play, the 3440 x 1440 resolution can be attractive. The LG 34BP65C (34BP65C-B due to mainly black rear side) provides this resolution – the ‘B’ here denotes ‘Business’, though it’s clearly marketed for a mixture of productivity and entertainment. The monitor is largely matte black, with a crescent-shaped base and tubular stand neck. The top and side bezels adopt the popular dual-stage bezel design, with a slender panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus thin hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick facing downwards in the centre of the bottom bezel.
The monitor uses a 34″ 3440 x 1440 (21:9 UltraWide) VA panel with moderate 1800R curve and 160Hz refresh rate. Adaptive-Sync is supported, including AMD FreeSync Premium with 48 – 160Hz VRR range plus LFC. The monitor adopts a matte anti-glare screen surface and has a specified 3000:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 10-bit (8-bit + FRC) colour support. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 99% sRGB colour gamut and 300 cd/m² typical maximum luminance. A ‘Reader’ mode Low Blue Light (LBL) setting is included to provide a potentially more relaxing viewing experience. The monitor includes basic HDR support, responding to HDR10 content with 10-bit colour reproduction offered. It doesn’t offer a particularly high luminance or generous colour gamut by HDR standards, whilst local dimming isn’t specified.
A 5ms grey to grey response time is specified (approach with caution), whilst a 1ms MPRT response time specified using the included MBR (Motion Blur Reduction) strobe backlight mode. Dynamic Action Sync (DAS) is also included, an integrated low input lag feature. The stand offers tilt and height (110mm or 4.33 inches) adjustment, with central attachment via a quick-release mechanism. It can be easily removed to facilitate alternative 100 x 100mm VESA mounting. The ports face backwards in a recessed area to the right of the attachment point and include; DP 1.4, 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack and DC power input (external ‘power brick’). 2 x 7W MaxxAudio speakers are included, providing potentially quite rich and powerful audio.
Further information can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The monitor is listed for ~$520 USD.
