Oxford Ionics completes £30m Series A


Oxford Ionics’ technology  called Electronic Qubit Control (EQC) controls trapped ions – a route to quantum computers.

Investors include Hermann Hauser, VC fund Braavos Investment Advisers, Oxford Science Enterprises, Lansdowne Partners, and 2xN.

The company was founded in 2019 by Chris Ballance and Tom Harty (pictured).

“Our chips run at room temperature,” says Ballance, “we don’t need to run in million dollar fridges to get them down to a thousandth of a degree above absolute zero.”

The company employs 35 people and has a manufacturing agreement with Infineon.

It is looking for hook ups with the cyber security companies.
