Prototyping board for 48MHz Cortex-M23 MCU with touch and security

The board, called RA2E1 Fast Prototyping Board, “features a built-in emulator circuit equivalent to an E2 emulator Lite allowing users to write and debug programs without requiring any additional tools,” according to distributor Anglia, which is stocking the boards.

It also has Arduino Uno and Pmod interfaces (see diagram) included as standard and gives through-hole access to all pins of the microcontroller.

On-board the MCU has 128kbyte of flash and 16kbyte of SRAM. In this case it has 64 pads, but packages down to 25 pads are available amongst compatible versions, as are a choice of LQFP, QFN, LGA, BGA or WLCS.

The board is 53 x 85mm and will run from 3.3 to 5.5V – there is a 2pin external power-supply header. 5V power can be fed on through a USB connector and an on-board regulator makes 3.3V for the processor.

The user interface includes a reset button, a user push buttons and an micro LED for power plus two user LEDs. Micro USB Type-B.

In the wild, the processor series (RA2E1) can operate across 1.6V to 5.5V.

Peripherals include capacitive touch hardware, 12bit ADC, temperature sensor, 32bit PWM-capable timer, 16bit PWM-capable timer, low power asynchronous timer, RTC, flexible serial interface (UART, simple SPI, simple I2C), then a master SPI or I2C interface and security including encryption.
