The series consists of Arm Cortex-M7 core microcontrollers with Arm Cortex-M0+ support. It has a dual-bank flash whereby an update can be loaded onto one flash bank while the device is earlier firmware runs on the second bank before a reboot switches to the new firmware. This function allows for remote maintenance and updates.
Manufactured on a 40nm process, the XMC7100 and XMC7200 microcontrollers have up to 8MB flash and 1MB RAM and sufficient computational performance for industrial applications, for example PWM generation for motor power stage control and radar based sensing level measurement. Supply voltage ranges from 2.7 to 5.5V. In addition to motor control, the low power devices can be used in industrial drives, robotics, EV charging, e-bikes, battery management systems, programmable logic controllers and I/O applications. In hibernate mode, power consumption is just 8µA. The microcontrollers are also equipped with a range of peripherals such as up to two GbE, CAN-FD, Crypto Engine software, SMIF (serial memory interface, which allows a low-pin-count connection to external devices) and SDHC (secure digital high capacity) (SDHC).
Operating temperature range is -40 °C to +125 °C and the microcontrollers are available in TQFP and LFBGA package types with 100 to 272 pins.
The microcontrollers can be used with the ModusToolbox and Infineon also offers an evaluation kit.
